Publication Ethics

The Journal of Applied Mathematics and Modelling (JAMM) upholds the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices, ensuring that all stakeholders—authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers—maintain integrity, transparency, and fairness throughout Publication.

This Publication Ethics Statement outlines the responsibilities and ethical expectations for all parties involved in submitting, reviewing, and publishing articles in JAMM.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting to JAMM must adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

1.1. Originality and Plagiarism

✔ Authors must submit only original research and ensure their work is plagiarism-free.

All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin, and any submission with a similarity index above 30% will be rejected.

✔ Proper attribution must be given to all referenced work, and self-plagiarism (text recycling) is not permitted without appropriate justification.

1.2. Authorship and Contributions

✔ All listed authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the research.

Ghost authorship, honorary authorship, and guest authorship are strictly prohibited.

✔ The corresponding author must ensure that all contributors are appropriately credited and that no undeserving individuals are included as authors.

1.3. Multiple and Redundant Publications

✔ Manuscripts submitted to JAMM must not be under consideration or published elsewhere.

✔ Republishing the same research in multiple journals (duplicate Publication) is unethical and will lead to rejection or retraction.

✔ If a manuscript is based on a previously published conference paper, authors must disclose this and demonstrate significant new findings or extensions.

1.4. Data Accuracy and Integrity

✔ Authors must present accurate data, methodologies, and results without fabrication, falsification, or manipulation.

✔ Raw data should be available for verification upon request, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.

✔ If errors are discovered after Publication, authors must notify the journal immediately to issue a correction or retraction.

1.5. Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

✔ Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that may influence their research.

✔ All sources of funding, institutional affiliations, and any relevant financial support must be explicitly stated.

1.6. Ethical Approval and Human/Animal Rights

✔ research involving human participants or animals must comply with ethical guidelines, and authors must provide institutional ethical clearance if applicable.

✔ Informed consent must be obtained for human subjects' studies, and their privacy must be respected.

2. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and credibility of published research. JAMM expects reviewers to adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

2.1. Confidentiality

✔ All submitted manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents.

✔ Reviewers must not share, distribute, or discuss the manuscript with anyone outside the review process.

2.2. Objectivity and Constructive Feedback

✔ Reviews should be objective, fair, and constructive, focusing on the scientific merit of the manuscript.

✔ Personal criticism or biased comments are not tolerated.

2.3. Conflict of Interest

✔ Reviewers must decline invitations to review if they have a conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or funding bodies associated with the manuscript.

✔ If a reviewer recognizes an undisclosed conflict of interest, they must notify the editor immediately.

2.4. Ethical Concerns and Misconduct

✔ If a reviewer suspects plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical violations, they must report it to the editor confidentially.

✔ Reviewers must not use any part of the manuscript for their research before official Publication.

3. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of JAMM are responsible for maintaining editorial independence, fairness, and integrity in the publication process. Their ethical responsibilities include:

3.1. Fair and Unbiased Editorial Decisions

✔ Editors must evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit, without bias regarding race, gender, institutional affiliation, or nationality.

Decisions should be based on originality, methodological rigor, significance, and ethical compliance.

3.2. Confidentiality and Data Protection

✔ Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, or relevant editorial staff.

Reviewers’ identities must be kept confidential unless the journal follows an open peer-review policy.

3.3. Conflict of Interest Management

✔ Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts with a conflict of interest.

✔ Editorial board members must not use unpublished data from submitted manuscripts for their research without explicit permission from the authors.

3.4. Handling of Publication Ethics Concerns

✔ If ethical misconduct is suspected, editors will follow COPE’s guidelines for investigation and resolution.

✔ If plagiarism or misconduct is confirmed, appropriate actions will be taken, such as retraction, correction, or delisting of the authors.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher (Cendekiawan Ilmiah dan Berkelanjutan Nusantara)

The publisher ensures that JAMM operates ethically, transparently, and in compliance with international publishing standards.

4.1. Editorial and Research Integrity

✔ The publisher supports editorial independence and ensures no political influence affects publication decisions.

JAMM’s editorial team follows COPE Core Practices to ensure responsible publishing.

4.2. Digital Preservation and Open Access Commitment

✔ JAMM ensures the long-term preservation of published content using PKP PN and Portico.

✔ The journal follows the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), ensuring free, immediate, and unrestricted access to all research.

5. Handling of Misconduct and Ethical Violations

JAMM follows COPE’s ethical framework for handling research misconduct. If an ethical breach is suspected, the following steps will be taken:

5.1. Investigation Process

✔ Ethical concerns are first evaluated by the editorial team with input from COPE’s recommended guidelines.

✔ If necessary, the author’s institution or relevant ethics committees may be involved in the investigation.

5.2. Actions for Ethical Violations

Depending on the severity of the misconduct, JAMM may take the following actions:

Manuscript rejection or retraction (for severe ethical violations).

Publication of a correction or editorial expression of concern (for honest errors).

Blocklisting of authors who engage in repeated ethical violations.
