Author Guidelines
The Journal of Applied Mathematics and Modelling (JAMM) welcomes high-quality original research and review articles in applied mathematics and mathematical modeling. All authors must adhere to the following Author Guidelines to ensure a smooth submission and publication process.
1. Submission and Review Process
1.1. Online Submission via OJS
✅ All manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) 3.3 platform:
Submission Portal: https://ejournal.cibnusantara.org/index.php/jamm
✅ Authors must register and create an account before submitting their manuscript.
✅Submission Checklist (all items must be completed):
- The manuscript follows JAMM’s formatting and structure requirements (see JAMM Template).
- The submission is original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.
- The manuscript is in English
- All authors have agreed to the submission and declare no conflicts of interest.
- Figures, tables, and equations are correctly formatted.
- Ethical approval (if applicable) is included.
1.2. Peer Review and Editorial Process
JAMM follows a double-blind peer review process:
Step 1: Initial Editorial Screening
- The editorial team checks the manuscript’s scope, formatting, and originality.
- Plagiarism is screened using Turnitin (maximum similarity allowed: 30%).
- Manuscripts failing this stage are desk rejected.
Step 2: Assignment to Reviewers
- Two or more independent experts review the manuscript.
- Reviewers provide detailed feedback within 4-6 weeks.
Step 3: Editorial Decision
- Accepted (minor/no revisions).
- Revisions Required (major/minor).
- Rejected (not suitable for JAMM).
Step 4: Revision & Final Decision
- Authors must submit a point-by-point response to reviewer comments.
- Revised manuscripts undergo re-evaluation before final acceptance.
Step 5: Copyediting & Publication
- Accepted papers undergo copyediting and formatting.
- Articles are assigned a DOI and published in the next available issue.
2. Manuscript Categories
JAMM accepts the following types of submissions:
2.1. Research Articles
✅ Original research presenting new models, algorithms, or applications.
✅Word Limit: 10,000 words (including references).
2.2. Review Articles
✅ Comprehensive surveys of recent advancements in applied mathematics.
✅Word Limit: 12,000 words.
2.3. Short Communications
✅ Brief reports on novel findings or new theoretical insights.
✅Word Limit: 5,000 words.
3. Manuscript Formatting & Structure
3.1. Title Page
✔Title: Concise, informative, ≤20 words.
✔Author Information: Full names, affiliations, and ORCID (if available).
✔Corresponding Author: Name, email, and phone number.
3.2. Abstract & Keywords
✔Abstract (200-300 words):
- Background research
- Objective – Purpose of the study.
- Methods – Key mathematical techniques used.
- Results – Main findings.
- Conclusion – Key insights and implications.
✔Keywords: about 5 words relevant to manuscript
3.3. Main Text
Manuscripts should follow this structured format:
1️⃣Introduction – Background, problem statement, and research objectives.
2️⃣Methods – Mathematical modeling, algorithms, and experimental setup.
3️⃣Results – Analysis, figures, and tables.
4️⃣Discussion – Interpretation of results, implications, and limitations.
5️⃣Conclusion – Summary of findings and future directions.
3.4. Figures, Tables, and Equations
✔Figures: High resolution (300 dpi minimum). Labeled sequentially (e.g., Figure 1).
✔Tables: Simple format with no vertical lines.
✔Equations: Use LaTeX or MathType, numbered sequentially (e.g., Eq. 1).
3.5. References
- The bibliography is a system for writing citations/excerpts of a manuscript or literature using the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition Style.
- A Minimum of 15 references for each article, 80% are primary references such as journal articles, conference proceedings, and thesis/dissertation.
- The references must be last 10 years, except for some references that coin theories or findings
- The authors are highly encouraged to use reference managers such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, and others
4. Ethical Guidelines
JAMM follows COPE Core Practices for ethical publishing. Authors must:
✔Ensure originality – Plagiarism >30% will result in immediate rejection.
✔Disclose conflicts of interest – Funding sources and affiliations must be declared.
✔Avoid duplicate submissions – Submitting to multiple journals simultaneously is unethical.
✔Ensure research integrity – Fabrication or manipulation of data will lead to retraction.
Ethical approval must be stated if the study involves human or animal subjects.
5. Open Access & Copyright Policy
✔Open Access Policy: JAMM follows the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). All articles are freely available to the public.
✔License & Copyright:
- Published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).
- Authors retain copyright and can share their work in repositories.
